Happy Mother’s Day to my wonderful Mum!
And before I even begin this post, I know for a fact that she is going kill me for some of these photos, but ah well. My Mum is my best friend and since moving to University I have realised how much I appreciate the things she does for me. Her ickle parcels in the post or occasional postcards containing pictures of my hamster never fail to cheer me up. She is always on the end of the phone for me to complain to, share my happiness and sadness with as well as to tell me to stop worrying when I’m considering giving up.
Ever since my Dad left in 2010, my Mum has been my rock and I have been her’s, she is everything. My Mum is just one of the team, my Sister calls her a ‘Lad’ which is largely true, although she can be incredibly embarrassing but that is just Mum’s right? Having said that we are always out to play a joke on her or annoy her in public situations so we probably ask for it! She is the one we drag along to One Direction concerts or make her pick us up at 3am and buy us chips, but we are so lucky to have her.
My Mum has been the one to pick me up when I’ve fallen, she’s been there through thick and thin. She got me through my GCSE’s, the IB (she was the best at cutting out things for my art book) and no doubt she’ll help indirectly through my degree. She’s the one I call to ask “How long do I cook my chicken nuggets for? Is my salad okay to eat? Will I die if I eat my cheese that has gone mouldy?” her response is usually, “What does it say on the packet?” or “How am I supposed to know, I’m 300 miles away Channon?” – oh dear, (I am useless).
My Mum is the bestest friend I could ever ask for, and yes we argue and disagree, but that’s okay because no matter what we always forgive within a few days. She is always putting myself and Natty, my Sister, first. I am so grateful to have my Mum and if you still have yours, give her a hug, send her a message or give her a call and let her know how much she means to you today.
I love you Mum!
