I don’t know about you but I have been dreaming about travel a lot lately… I think it is the subconscious effect of being stuck indoors. Whilst, travel plans remain uncertain for the immediate future – it won’t be long before we are back out into the world, exploring and taking in the culture around us. The time will come and we need to be prepared! For now, we can reflect on our nostalgic memories and start planning those future trips.
The plan was to visit Ireland this year to add to my 30 Places Before 30 plan, but that has been temporarily put on hold until next year now. I am sure lots of us are in the same boat.
Instead, I have put together a list of a few places that either I would like to visit in the future or that I have visited in the past (and would recommend you do too).
Canada
Canada is absolutely stunning. I visited Niagara Falls back in the summer of 2018 whilst working on a summer camp in New York. With all this dreaming of travel going on though, I would like to see more of what Canada has to offer.
Worth keeping in mind for those travel plans are escorted holidays to Canada *. Canadian Affair offer luxury trips to see the stunning scenery of Canada as well as whale watching, zip-lining over Niagara Falls and city breaks all with an expert tour guide. The best part? The whole trip is planned for you. This makes for a stress-free holiday, which is tailored to you and your interests. They offer a range of different packages and deals from iconic views for budget prices to luxurious hotels with the finest culinary experiences. There is something for everyone.
San Juan Islands, Washington
Near the top of my travel bucket list is to see Orcas in the wild. I’ve heard that the San Juan Islands in Washington are the place to do this. Orca Island is the place to visit for the ultimate whale sightseeing tour. You can see the killer whales all year round here, although spottings are never guaranteed. Other San Juan Island highlights include hiking, swimming in the open water and cycling.
Maldives
I feel like the Maldives are top of most people’s travel bucket lists; it most certainly is a dream location to visit. The Maldives is located in the Indian Ocean, South Asia. The warm water makes for the most incredible wildlife viewings and snorkeling experiences, as well as being one of the most calming and relaxing places in the world. It sounds like the perfect place to detox after the pandemic is over. However, I am sure my bank balance will stretch this far. We can dream, eh?
Florida
Now, if you have been reading my blog for a while then you will know that Walt Disney World has been on my travel plans list for a while. Last summer, I was lucky enough to stop by the Most Magical Place on Earth for 17 days. You can check out what we got up to here. It was INCREDIBLE and to be honest, it is all I have thought about ever since. The once in a lifetime trip will no doubt make an appearance again in the future. If you are thinking of planning your own Disney trip, then check out my guide for my top tips and tricks here.
Ireland
Like I mentioned above, I was planning on visiting Ireland this year with some friends. The plan was to do a weekend trip to Dublin to test out the Guineas (which we normally don’t like). This has sadly been put on hold. However, with all this dreaming about travel, I would also like to visit Giant’s Causeway in Northern Ireland if I get the chance. Giant’s Causeway is a National Trust heritage site and features picturesque views of 40,000 interlocking basalt columns with grazing livestock and the North Atlantic sea breeze.
