Family meals amongst my family usually involve heated debates over politics and unimaginable concepts of astrology alongside a bottle of Buck’s Fizz and some of my Nanny Wendy’s home cooked treats. This family meal was different.

On Sunday I had a “going off to university/good luck” kind of meal, this meant three things, 1) arguments over subjects that I don’t understand were banned (no point in arguing over something you don’t understand), 2) all the food prepared I got to pick (and eat, including four of my Nan’s incredible pork, apple sauce and stuffing bread rolls, yummmm) and 3) multiple bottles of the good old friend maker – Buck’s Fizz (all because one doesn’t drink Champagne)! It’s too fancy, darling ;)

We had my Nan’s new speciality “Nutella Chocolate Cake” which is basically my Nanny’s top secret chocolate cake recipe with Nutella icing to die for! I also tried the new Kettle: Sweet Potato crisps in a Sweet Chilli flavour – I highly recommend to any sweet potato fans plus they look like a piece of art!

But my favourite of all surprises was receiving a beautiful card of a painting which basically sums up “home” to me: the seaside. Oh and a super amazing what I’d call “a beach bum” bag for me to take away to University from my wonderful Uncle Eric and Auntie Julia, so if you are reading this, I thank you, a lot!

I also had a “very me” cake, filled with hundreds and hundreds of coloured sugar pieces and a ton of butter icing in a simple jam sponge, my favourite.

So all in all despite my lack of sleep from last night out partying with my friends of Saturday, I had a very enjoyable Sunday afternoon. A special thank you goes to my Nanny Wendy and Grandad Andy for hosting! I loved it!

Ta ra, C x
